Yellow Ribbons.....

Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree (Or your gate)

Dearest blog reader,

My post is kinda late, knowing that President Maria Corazon Cojuangco Aquino passed away hours ago. Well, as part of the Republic's population, I, too, express my gratitude towards the Icon of Democracy.

I heard the news hours ago while I was playing my PSP. I heard it from the radio that the Armed Forces of the Philippines are already firing cannons as a tribute to President Aquino. I was like "Ba't sila magfafire eh buhay pa naman si Cory?!" [Why would they fire cannons when Cory's still alive?]. Then I heard the DJ that she indeed passed away. So I was shocked. I was, like, fumbling already. I rushed to turn on the television. And there it was, ABS-CBN Channel 2 presenting a special coverage about the matter. Well, our household didn't know, too. Our attention was glued to the TV.

So, in the process, they reminisced Marcos' regime. For the past years, it seemed to me that Marcos' regime was just a fog of history; a gesture of greed of power. After that reminiscing, my mind was once again awoken of the evils his government has committed. I mean... charging Sen. Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. with murder and like crimes?! That's just social and charismatic suicide. I can't imagine why people can do stuff like that just to cling to power. Politicians are yet to discover to lead. There was also this thing about Jaime Cardinal Sin, one of the spearheads of the EDSA People Power Rev. They had some files with them. I studied Philippine History extensively for the past couple of years. I read about him announcing stuff on radio but, just hours ago, I actually witnessed a file video of the actual thing: Cardinal Sin urging the people; thousands of people answering his call; how the priests, nuns and ordinary citizens equipped with rosaries peacefully fought the tank-clad platoon of soldiers. I was, like, "Whoa". So that's how it looked. That's how it happened.

These days, whenever Mrs. Imelda Marcos would speak to the media stating that her family never corrupted anything; never committed an administrative crime, I'd be hit by her cries. After that thing, I dunno if I'm gonna believe her....ummmm..... lies(?) or not. I mean, her family against the Republic. Come on. That's so evil. Tsktsk. So yeah......

I also watched the thing about Pres. Aquino's last SONA. She said goodbye (unlike Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who just taunted the Opposition. Ho!). I also noticed how her way of speaking and her looks (during her earlier years, of course) are very similar to Kris Aquino - Yap's. So yeah.... Their family has been through a lot and it's so touching to believe that Pres. Cory still hopes that the world will continue to pray for each other, as stated in her prayer "Prayer for A Happy Death". Wow. She didn't even know she had colon cancer then. So yeah. Wow. My condolences to the Aquino family...... That's about it.

P.S.

Tie a yellow ribbon 'round your gates, bags, cabinet handles, cars or pretty much anything. It would be nice if you have oak trees. We're planning to buy five yards of it tomorrow.
